Wenger told Sky Sports: “It was a massive win for us because we lost last week at West Ham. It was very disappointing to lose the way we lost and that is why it is always very important to get a response from the team.
“I felt everybody performed well today. We have strong stars and a strong team, and the players who have responsibility in the team were very strong today and that made us strong.
“Liverpool played very well and the first goal was very important. If they had scored it could have become a very different game.”
