Pardew said: “Because there is a takeover and a buoyancy of their new start, we still have to be very protective of what we have here.
“There are players who have come through the academy where my part has been small, Anton Ferdinand being one of those.
“The whole staff have played their part in the progression of the players and some of those players have grown with the progress we have made.
“That’s what you want, players that come with you. And we still have high hopes of players like Mark Noble and James Tompkins coming from the academy.
“But that won’t stop us trying to buy good young talent – Tyrone Mears is still finding his feet, Jonathan Spector is in the side and he’s growing.
“That side will always be here with us at West Ham.”
