Wright-Phillips found himself on the fringes of Roberto Mancini’s team last season and faces even more competition for a first team place with the arrival of David Silva from Valencia.
“It was disappointing with what happened in the summer at the World Cup,” said Wright-Phillips.
“But now it’s time to get the head down, pull on the boots and get on with it again.
“My only focus is to get on the pitch and do my thing. I am delighted to be back with the lads and straight into the banter.
“I was in LA for a while being well looked after and now I am ready to go.”
