The 30 year old is struggling with an achilles complaint, and has played 97 times for the national side so far. Rumours suggested he’d quit at 100, but he has insisted this is not the case.
“I want to deny that I want to leave the Spanish national team,” he told Marca. “I want to go to the European Championships finals (in 2012) and to the World Cup in Brazil (in 2014).”
