Zenden is impressed by the quality at Sunderland after a fine start to the season.
The Black Cats managed a 1-0 victory over Arsenal at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
“To finish in the top six would be a very big achievement,” the Dutchman said in the Daily Express.
“If we could get into the top eight that would be a good finish as it would possibly bring a European spot.”
“It’s a new-look side with a lot of new players but we’ve gelled quickly,” he added.
“It’s not only the fact we’ve had some good results, we’ve put down some good performances.
“We’ve got a group of players who are willing to put the effort in and we have quality.
“If you combine the two, I’m convinced we can go places.
“If you look at the squad and how we’re doing, we should be looking in the top half of the table.”
