He says they have been unduly criticised for performances this season and their rewards are around the corner.
“It’s linked with confidence”, said Wenger to Arsenal’s official site.
“I think when you look at Newcastle today and then the 0-0 we played with ten men, everybody slaughtered us. Now suddenly you see that Newcastle are doing well.
“It’s the same with Udinese in the Champions League, they are joint-top of the Italian league. That means we had good performances overall away from home in some games.
“At the moment I do not think we have been rewarded, but maybe in Europe we are under pressure less.”
